Thomas Morley (1557-1602)
An English composer of madrigals
and ballets. He published
the "Triumphs of Oriana," a set of twenty-five madrigals by twenty-three
composers -- each madrigal in honor of Queen Elizabeth I. He was
also the author of the first treatise on music printed
in England, "A Plaine and Easie Introduction to Practicall Musicke."
